Ketanji Brown Jackson
Born on September 14, 1970, in Washington, DC Ketanji Brown stood out as a high achiever throughout primary school, Judge Jackson was elected “mayor” of Palmetto Junior High and study body president of Miami Palmetto Senior High School. When she told her High School guidance counselor that she wanted to attend Harvard University, the counselor warned her to not set her “sights so high.” Proving everyone wrong, Judge Jackson graduated from Harvard University with Latin honors and then attended Harvard Law School where she graduated and spent time as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Shortly after graduating, Ketanji worked at Morrison & Foerster LLP and focused on criminal and civil appellate litigation.
From 2013 to 2021, Ketanji served as a United States District Judge. Until late 2014, Ketanji also worked as a Vice Chair and Commissioner on the United States Sentencing Commission.
President Joseph Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace Justice Stephen Breyer upon his retirement as the 116th Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Judge Jackson lives in Washington, DC with her husband and two daughters.
